Our Story

Meet the founder Lauren Ohayon

Lauren Ohayon smiling, chin on clasped hands

For more than 25 years, Lauren Ohayon has been teaching women how their core and pelvic floor actually work, through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and every season beyond. Her method, Restore Your Core®, looks at the pelvic floor not as an isolated muscle to squeeze or "fix," but as part of a whole system: breath, ribs, pressure, gait, the nervous system, neural pathways and a lifetime of movement habits.

That same whole-system approach is the thread running through everything she has built. It is what she brought to teaching in-person prenatal childbirth education classes in New York, guiding thousands of women to prepare and heal their bodies across pregnancy, birth and recovery. It is what led her to co-found One Strong Mama (now Body Ready Method®), and it sits at the foundation of how her work prepares the body for birth. In the years since, Lauren has refined that approach further into the RYC® prenatal pelvic floor tools and the proactive pelvic floor prep they come from.

✨ Today

Lauren trains movement and health professionals around the world, including yoga teachers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, midwives and doulas, through her own professional training and as a guest teacher in doula and birth-worker programs, to replace hopelessness with body literacy and agency. She has worked through a bio-psycho-social lens for decades, with results that speak for themselves.

Her trainings are known for going deep into the why: practitioners learn to feel the work in their own bodies first, and then guide their clients there. RYC® Professionals describe it as the missing piece from their original training.

Lauren launched Restore Your Core® in December 2015, teaching small groups of devoted clients across the globe, from her native New York to India, Israel and throughout Europe, before settling in Miami with her husband and three children. What began as a handful of in-person classes is now a worldwide method, taught by highly trained RYC® professionals in 80+ countries from India to Alaska and Australia to Europe.

The RYC® Method

Restore Your Core® is an online core and pelvic floor program built without the "burn and shred" mentality – and without the message that you are broken and need fixing. Rather than chasing symptoms or isolating one muscle, RYC® teaches women to interpret their body's signals and apply movement that works with the whole system: breath, pressure, posture, the nervous system and the way they move through daily life.

It is an approach that meets a woman wherever she is, whether she is preparing for birth, recovering postpartum, navigating perimenopause and menopause, or simply wanting to feel strong, mobile and at home in her body again.

Our Mission

Movement is essential to a good life, but too often it is inaccessible, overwhelming or punitive. RYC® exists to change that: to replace hopelessness with body literacy and agency.

We teach women to understand and trust their own bodies, starting with the pelvic floor and core, so they can move through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and every stage of life with confidence rather than fear. And the work goes beyond the physical. Sustainable healing is rooted in self-trust, self-love, and a sense of belonging in one's own body. That is the destination: not a flatter belly, but a body a woman can rely on and feel at home in.

Much of this begins with awareness. The pelvic floor is a region most of us have been taught to blur out, yet building a clear, felt connection to it is a gateway to agency and whole-body connection. This holds true even for women who do not currently identify as having a core or pelvic floor issue. Often, simply mapping and reconnecting with this overlooked part of the body is where a deeper sense of being at home in oneself begins.

What the RYC® Method helps with

Because it works with the whole system rather than one muscle or one symptom, the RYC® Method supports women across a wide range of experiences and life stages, including:

Pelvic floor preparation and recovery for birth. Proactive prep before birth, and gentle, intelligent rebuilding afterward, so the pelvic floor is ready for labor and supported through the early postpartum weeks.

Urine leaking and bladder urgency. The uncomfortable, often embarrassing release of urine triggered by everyday actions such as running, lifting, jumping, coughing, sneezing or laughing, essentially any moment that leads the body to "push out."

Disconnection and lost confidence in the body. For women who do not identify with any single symptom but feel unsteady, braced or simply not at home in themselves, the work rebuilds awareness, trust and agency from the inside out.

Diastasis recti. The separation of the abdominal muscles that creates a mid-belly gap and affects the skin, fat and muscle tissue.

A tight or hypertonic pelvic floor. Chronic gripping, tension and difficulty fully relaxing, which can sit at the root of pain, discomfort and a body that never quite feels at ease.

Back, hip and pelvic pain. The constant, incessant kind that wears a body down day after day, often tied to how pressure and load move through the whole system.

Pelvic-organ prolapse. The "shifting down" of pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, vagina, rectum), which many women are especially susceptible to postpartum and during menopause.

Hernia and other pressure-related issues. Concerns that stem from how the body manages internal pressure, which the RYC® approach addresses at its source rather than in isolation.

Perimenopause and menopause changes. Shifts in strength, tissue and pelvic support that arrive with hormonal change, met with movement that adapts to this season rather than fighting it.

The RYC® universe: where your journey

can begin

Restore Your Core® is more than a single program. It is an ecosystem of resources built to meet a woman wherever she is in her journey and walk with her for the long term, whether she arrives preparing for birth, healing a specific symptom, looking for an intelligent way to stay strong, building awareness of a part of her body she has never really felt before, or called to teach this work to others.

RYC® Bump & Birth

A prenatal-through-early-postpartum toolkit that prepares the pelvic floor and body for birth and supports the first weeks of recovery. Unlike most online pregnancy workout programs, Bump & Birth trains the pelvic floor to release under pressure, not just contract, using breath and nervous system work woven into every session.

RYC® Professional Training

For yoga, pilates teachers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, midwives, doulas and movement professionals, as well as graduates who want to turn their own recovery into expertise. A single integrated certification that has trained 500+ practitioners who have collectively served more than 10,000 women.

The RYC® 12-Week Program

Lauren's foundational program for healing the core and pelvic floor, the home for women who are ready to resolve a symptom and transform how their body works. Or learn to connect more deeply and intuitively to their body as a system and build intelligent movement patterns that support pelvic floor and core health for life.

RYC® Pro Collective

The ongoing home for certified RYC® professionals once they have trained. A supportive community of curious forever learners that keeps their professional development and confidence growing long after certification, with advanced education, business and marketing support, listing in the RYC® Professional Directory and connection to a worldwide network of practitioners carrying this work into their own communities.

RYC® FIT Online Studio

Hundreds of live and on-demand classes, the bridge from rehabilitation to lifelong, intelligent fitness that is core and pelvic floor approved.

However a woman enters the RYC® world, the destination is the same: a body she understands, has agency over, trusts and feels at home in, for life.

Our Core Values

We do not fix you. You are not broken. Bodies bend, not break. You are cells, not inert matter, and cells change, adapt and respond to their environment.

Connection to our bodies matters. Being at home in your body is foundational. We believe everyone deserves to feel, understand and trust their own body, and that reconnecting with it is where real, lasting change begins.

Healing is a journey, not a destination. It is normal to have good days and bad days. We hold no expectation that every day will be a "good" body day.

Flat bellies are not better bellies. Functional has no "look."

Let's normalize injury. Our culture stigmatizes injury and makes us feel shame and "less than" for having one. Injury is part of human existence.

Ableism sucks. Call us out if we go there.

Consistency matters. Habit matters. Commitment matters. Finding a rhythm that works for you and committing to it, even the simple act of pressing play for two minutes, is what we want for you. Change does not need to be huge. Small and steady.
